Welcome Kids! Since it is Black history month we are going to have a little fun while learning about it!

Today we are going to do a fun activity to learn a little more about our Black History. To start off I am going to introduce you to a couple of honorable people and what they have done. We will then move on to a class activity!


1) First we are going to learn about Otis Boykins.
Otis Boykins invented the Pacemaker. The pacemaker helps control abnormal heart rhythms.

        • Your Heart Rate is determined by the number of heartbeats per unit of time, usually expressed as beats per minute(BMP). Your heart rate can vary as the body's need for oxygen changes, like when your exercising or sleeping.

2) Michael Jordan:

Michael Jordan is a world famous basketball player. He has won 6 championships for the Chicago Bulls!

3) Jackie Robinson:

Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play in the Major League Baseball organization.











4) Willie Thrower:
Willie Thrower was an NFL quarterback. He made history in 1953 playing for the Bears.


5) George Poage:
George Poage was the first African American athletic medalist. He won 2 medals in hurdle racing in the Olympics.




6) Dehart Hubbard:
Dehart Hubbard broke records right out of the gate and jumped so far they had to lengthen Ferry Field's long jump pit. In his junior year, he won Olympic gold in Paris to become the first African-American to accomplish the feat.
